Think a thunk with me

An amazing journey through an ordinary life

The heat sucks.
It's been awhile again since I posted anything on LJ other than my tweets. Last week was a very sucky week. I was sick as can be and still don't know what caused it. I was running a fever for a week and a half. Plus I had aches and other issues. I went to the doctor's office MULTIPLE times and had blood taken for a wide variety of tests. Everything came back negative so who knows what caused the high fever. I'm finishing up some antibiotics, but I don't know that they helped anything. I was out of work for a full week. And I hated every minute of it because my internet and phone are down at home and it was 88 degrees in my house most of the time. Ugh. Not a fun week to have off of work. But I'm back at work now and it's almost as hot in this old building as it is at home. Totally sucks. I am so done with summer. I never like it to begin with and this summer has been extra hot and humid. Gross.
I can't wait to move. I hate not having internet at home. According to the cable company the problem is with my modem and router. I don't feel the need to replace those at this point considering I'm not sure I'm going to stay with the same company when I move. So I don't want to buy new stuff if it's not going to work with whatever company I go with. Although from the looks of things, I only have 2 options... stay with the same cable company or go with Verizon DSL. I'm thinking DSL might be too slow and drive me crazy. Yet it is cheaper. Tough choice.
I did sign and mail the lease with my security deposit and first month's rent. So now I'm just waiting to hear back from the landlord as to when I can get the keys and start moving in! My mom and I went to IKEA this past weekend to look at beds and living room furniture. I think I've definitely decided on a small couch and chair that I really liked. I just need to measure the room and make sure that it'll fit. I need to measure the bedrooms too. I want to keep my daybed that I have in the spare room for visitors, but again, I'm not sure if it'll fit in the little room. Should have thought about that when I was there the last time around. Oh well. I've got time to move things slowly. I don't know how I'll get the daybed over anyway since I doubt it'll fit in my car even in pieces. I'm going to need to get rid of a ton of stuff. I'm a bit nervous about it, but excited too. I should have gotten rid of things long ago.
It is so gross and hot and humid in here. I am so uncomfortable! Ughh... I have Physical Therapy tonight too. Not looking forward to the heat and exercises. But I'm going to have them do ice at the end again this time. That is refreshing.
I did feel well enough this weekend to see Harry Potter. It was pretty good, but I don't think it was anywhere near as good as the previous movies. It actually dragged at the beginning and I thought a lot of the movie could have been done better. Not that it was bad, but it was definitely not the best of the bunch.
Our division picnic is on Thursday afternoon. Of course it's going to be 100 degrees outside that day. YUCK! I was looking forward to the picnic until I saw the weather forecast. This whole week is supposed to be extremely hot and humid. I hate it. I want to be in the rental house already! It has central air! That is going to be such a dream come true!
Next Friday is my scheduled day off... however, I have a class that day that is required for my next grade level. All the dates available happen to fall on my day off so I scheduled it for the 29th. So now I need to decide if I want to switch my day off to another day (this Friday?) or if I want to not take a day off this pay period and earn the day in comp time. Hmm... I kind of like the idea of earning the time to save for later on, but don't like the idea of working two 5 day weeks in a row! I need to make a decision by Friday because I have to let my boss know and he's on vacation next week.
I'm all sweaty and icky.. Damn this heat!
I'm so sleepy too. I don't ever sleep well, but since last week when I was sick, I've slept even less well than usual. I didn't even nap or sleep in late all those days when I was home. I just couldn't. The fever was horrible and kept me constantly uncomfortable. Oh how I'd like one good night of sleep!

There was an internet option I had been looking into that some of my friends have gotten and seem to like, but I'm blanking on the name of it. I didn't end up going with it, because my neighbor got internet and cable instead and let me use her signal. But unfortunately, it would be internet only...darn it, what is the name of it!?! Stupid brain.

Anyway, I'm glad you're feeling better, and I second and third all of your comments against the summer and the heat. Done. With. It.

If you remember what the internet option was, let me know. I'm still considering just doing internet and no phone or cable tv. But i'm still trying to decide but like to check prices and such.

Thanks. I'm glad too. And it is good to know that I am not the only one done with the heat.
