I completely forgot that today is New Year's Eve. Ok, I didn't really forget it, but didn't quite fully realize it either. I guess it slipped my mind because to me it's no big deal. I'm going to be sitting home tonight all by my lonely, so what difference does it make if it's the end of a year or just any other Monday? Bitter? Me? Ha. Yeah. I'm tired of ringing in the new year by myself or at the very most getting to spend an hour with Ron before the time hits midnight. For the past... well, the past FOREVER, he's always been stuck working NYE night and I'm sick of it! Sick sick sick of it! Just ONCE I'd like to be able to go to our neighbor's gathering or go to AC with his parents or to my family's house or just OUT to a bar or something to ring in the year. Just once. I miss the days of being single where I could just up and go out. Oh those were the days! We always would rent a hotel room, usually at the Embassy Suites, but sometimes the Red Roof Inn or other such place. We'd party like no tomorrow. And while I don't want to go THAT wild, I'd just like to be able to celebrate in style with other PEOPLE around. The dogs are great, don't get me wrong, but they don't quite get the whole New Year deal. ha-ha.
This weekend was pretty sucky too. Not for any specific reason, just because. Friday I had my 2 hours of PT time and so I left work at 3:00. That was SO great. It was nice to get home before dark for the first time in months! Ron and I took the dogs for a long walk and then relaxed for a bit as we tried to decide if we wanted to see "National Treasure" at the local movie theater or go a bit of a distance to see "AvP" at the Kinnelon theater. The local one is much more convenient, but I had free tickets for the Kinnelon one. We ended up "deciding" to go to the one by us, but as we drove to the theater we got to talking and decided neither one of us felt like a movie. I was so exhausted for unknown reasons. So instead of the movie, we went to the diner and had a nice meal. Then we headed home and popped in one of the DVDs I've had from Netflix for ages. We watched "Mindhunters". Good movie! I had the killer figured out, but it was still a cool film. Heck, seeing Christian Slater's bum is well worth it just in its own right. hahaha. And LL Cool J's muscles... ooh baby!
Saturday was a ho-hum of a day. Ron and I took the dogs for a long walk before he had to go to work and then I spent the evening bored out of my mind. ha-ha. I read a lot and watched the other Netflix DVD that I had, "Dead Man". It was the worst Johnny Depp movie I have ever seen! I always thought that he could do no wrong, but I was wrong. Ha-ha. I'm so glad to finally get that movie off and on its way back to Netflix! Good riddance!
Yesterday we took another walk with the dogs before Ron headed off to work again. Then I did more reading and watched a bit of TV. Nothing too thrilling.
OH! There was one BRIGHT moment this weekend! Friday I got home to find an Amazon.com box on my doorstep! Amazon boxes always bring me such glee! But this one had me pondering what the heck it might contain since I hadn't ordered anything. I brought the box in and set it aside for a bit while Ron and I went out with the dogs. It then slipped my mind. (Don't know HOW the heck an Amazon box slipped my mind, but it did!) Then yesterday I remembered that I had put it in the office to keep it out of the way. I usually don't go in the office and so I didn't think of it until it popped into my mind. So I yanked the tape right off that sucker and opened it up. Gotta love those little air pillow thingies. Inside was a green box with a ribbon around it and a little card. It was a gift from Lisa and Petra! Not just any gift, but the funkiest gift. Hehe. They sent me flannel FLAMINGO pajamas! They are by far the cutest and funniest PJs I've ever seen. Thank you Lisa and Petra! I WUV them MUCHO! :-)
Anyway, that's my weekend in a nutshell. Now here we are at Monday... NYE. I think I'm going to stop at a liquor store on the way home and splurge on getting myself an expensive bottle of something so then perhaps the night won't seem so awful by myself. Hehe. whatever. OR I could REALLY make myself feel good and go buy a darn camera. LOL I can't tell you how tempted I am to hit the camera store here in Parsippany tonight. I still haven't narrowed it down any further than the 4 cameras I've been researching. But I want one, want one, want one! hehe.
We got some ice and snow last night. I'd say about an inch of snow, although they were predicting 2-5 for my area. Liars! I think we might have got that IF it hadn't turned to ice. I had a witch of a time trying to scrape my car off this morning.
